I uploaded a video to vimeo related to BEAN(BEhavioral ANimation) project, and is just an advance of what I’m doing for “Magic Films”. The goal is to provide an animation system for automatically animating the snakes over the head of medusa.
I have used a paper about Position Based Dynamics to build the simulation system. (matthiasmueller.info/publications/posbaseddyn.pdf )
Combining particles, I can simulate the skeleton of the snake. There is no actual A.I. developed. This is why the snakes doesn’t look really alive. With a proper A.I. and some constraints to give sensation of muscles in the middle of the body, would be enough to get a realistic snakes. There is also needed some constraints to control collisions.
Is developed with c++ and opengl and will be added to maya as a plugin.
